Dining in Mallorca in 2027

Mallorca's dining scene has quietly become one of the Mediterranean's most interesting. Knowing how it is organised matters more than any ranked list.

We do not publish a ranked list, and we do not attribute awards or stars to restaurants — those change, and getting them wrong helps nobody. What we can offer is the shape of the scene, and how to find the right table for the evening you have in mind.

The categories worth knowing

  • Harbour and beachfront dining — Port d'Andratx, Puerto Portals and Port Adriano, at their best in the hour before sunset.
  • Palma's contemporary restaurants — concentrated in the old town and Santa Catalina, where the island's most ambitious cooking is found.
  • Mountain village kitchens — Deià, Sóller and Valldemossa, where the setting is inseparable from the meal.
  • Country fincas and agroturismos — long lunches under the trees, often built around the estate's own produce.
  • Traditional cellers inland — the island's oldest style of restaurant, and the honest answer to what Mallorcan food actually is.

What the island grows and catches

Look for what is local rather than what is imported: island-caught fish, sobrasada, Mallorcan lamb, tomàtiga de ramellet, olive oil and wine from the Binissalem and Pla i Llevant regions. A menu that changes with the season is nearly always a good sign.

Practicalities

Dinner is late by northern European standards — from nine is normal in summer. The best tables in the southwest and in Palma are reserved well in advance during the season, and some restaurants close for part of the winter. Confirm opening and book ahead for 2027; where a specific evening matters, we are happy to arrange it.

Tables, arranged
