Andratx

Inland from its better-known port, Andratx is a working Mallorcan town in a wide green valley — and, for many buyers, the more characterful half of the pairing.

Andratx

Andratx has a life of its own that does not depend on the season. There is a weekly market, a church at the top of the town, cafés where Mallorquín is the language at the next table, and streets that empty in the afternoon heat. It sits a few minutes inland from Port d'Andratx, at the foot of the western end of the Serra de Tramuntana.

The property here

  • Village townhouses in the old centre, often with courtyards and roof terraces, many restored.
  • Fincas and country houses in the surrounding valley, set in almond and olive land.
  • Contemporary villas on the hillsides, positioned for valley and, higher up, sea views.
  • A smaller number of apartments, generally within or close to the town.

Everyday life

The town covers the practicalities — supermarkets, pharmacies, medical services, schools — which is why it appeals to people living on the island year-round rather than seasonally. The port, with its restaurants and marina, is a short drive; Palma and the airport are reachable along the motorway in around half an hour.

Walkers and cyclists have the Tramuntana on their doorstep, and the coast road towards Estellencs is among the most beautiful on the island.

Who it suits

Buyers who want authenticity and a settled community rather than a resort, who value land and privacy, and who like the idea of being close enough to the water to reach it in minutes without living in the middle of it.
